Why yes that is a laundry basket full children's books.
What's even better is that the books either belonged to me, my brother, my mom, and at least one was my grandma's. Now, I really like new, crisp books, with their stiff spines, but you just won't beat these well-loved books, with memories attached.
These are some of the older books in the basket. Most of these will be going up on a shelf. Little Miss is usually very careful with books but since some of these are about sixty years old I'm choosing caution. We have already read and enjoyed Chicken Little.
There are several books in the basket that will be going on the shelves for easy access.
And then there was this book....
This book that I had came so close to ordering just a day or two before. I'm so glad I didn't. This book did not cost me a thing, and just required a little bit of tape along the binding, from all its previous use! We are well on our way to putting our own amount of wear on it too.
I'm so thankful for these old books, for the memories they hold, and for the memories being made with them now. I'm also pretty excited that there is another batch of similar books sitting in the basement waiting for me to bring upstairs.
What are some of your treasures that some might call trash?
